- John Peter Houison Craufurd of Craufurdland, 27th laird of Craufurdland Castle, Kilmarnock, co Ayr, died 17 September, 2012, aged 82. He was a son of John Houison Craufurd of Craufurdland and Braehead by his wife the former Irene Marlow; he married in 1965, the Hon Caroline Helene Berry (b 1942), third daughter of the newspaper proprietor, the 2nd Viscount Kemsley (1909-99), by whom he had issue, 2 sons, (John) Alexander(b 1966) and Simon Douglas (b 1972), and one daughter, Teresa Eleanor (b 1967). The elder son, Alexander, succeeds as head of the family. He is married with 2 daughters.
