E_OBITUARY: " EX-RAILROADER DIES AT HOME
WALTER M. DOUGLASS, 68, a retired C & EI Railroad fireman, diedunexpectedly of a heart attack about 7 a.m. Thursday (May 8, 1952) athis home, 3 Cronkhite St. He had been in ill health about five years. The body is at the Johnson Funeral Home where it will remain forservices at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.Mr. Douglass was born Sept. 30, 1883 in New Market, Ind., the son ofHenry and Alice LaBaw Douglass. He was employed by the C & EI for 34years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen andEnginemen. He attended the Assembly Of God Church. Survivors includethe wife, Mabel; three daughters, Mrs. Alice McCormick of Danville,Mrs. Fern Fisher of Rantoul and Mrs. Dorothy Groves of Indianapolis; ason, Walter L. Douglass of Montezuma; 11 grandchildren; sevengreat-grandchildren; a brother, Everett Douglass of Covington, and ahalf-brother, Elmer French of Mace, Ind. One son preceded him indeath. 6:22 a.m., rescue squad of Central Fire Station to d3Cronkhite St., Walter Douglas, 68, fatal heart condition."
