- This is the information known to date, February 17, 2006, about CarlWomax: Carl L. Womax died of T.B. around 1925 per Marjorie EllenCharnock Lee, Dorothy's half-sister, as stated in a letter dated April27, 2004 to Carl's great grandson Michael Dean McCoy II, and Dorothy'sgrandson (the same). Carl was 27 years old in 1920 when hisdaughter Dorothy was born per her birth certificate information; Itwould appear that Dorothy was his only child that we know of withThelma Lucile Bonifant, and only marriage. According to the 02 Jan1920 Census he was single and living with his brother Charles and hismother Mary in Ohio by that time. Then Dorothy's birthdate and birthcertificate would indicate that in October of the census year 1920 shewas born, and that he was then married to Thelma. Thelma was sixteen(per the 1930 census which states the age of her first marriage) whenDorothy was born and Dorothy is mentioned as legimate on her birthcertificate. Dorothy stated that she was pretty certain that herfather Carl, was from Iroqouis Indian ancestry as well on his mother'sside. She had also mentioned to the compiler that her father hadwritten social articles for the local newspaper. A sample of one ofthose articles is in the McCoy Family records-Womax section. From thelisting noted he wrote frequently a weekly or bi-weekly article ofwhat was happening in the area of local families. The sample obtainedis also believed to be the last one prior to his death.
Carl's mother, Mary Womax, lived with him and Thelma after they weremarried. And, after Carl died his mother continued to live withThelma even when Thelma remarried to William Charnock.
