• Notes

  Following the extinction of the male line of the Wigtown earldom, the estates passed to Clementina, the daughter of the 6th Earl. Clementina had married Charles, the 10th . The Wigtown estates were then held by Clementina's descendants over the subsequent generations. This continued until 1876, when the feudal Earldom of Wigtown was assigned to John William Burns of Kilmahew. As of 2023, the feudal Earldom of Wigtown is held by Dr. Roland Ladislaus Zettel.
