- Joined RE's as driver in 1941? War pensioner. Fought in North Africa and Italy with the 8th Army. Landed Salerno. Wounded near Poggibonsi when a shell went off as he was driving an open jeep with an officer. Shrapnel wounds to head caused an MS-like condition over many years.
