  Henry was born at Martin's Bridge on the Teviot. he moved aged 6 when his father found work in Hawick in a factory. C1890 - Riddle, Treasurer Henry, 56 Channel Street, Galashiels Provost of Galashiels 1900-1903 Additionaly, he served in many capacities in local organisation, eg District Lunacy Board His maternal grandfather was 'pensioned off' out of Wellington's army after receiving a 'ball in the chest' at the siege of Badajos in the Peninsular War. I presume he must have been an officer to receive a pension Sold at auction June 1999 to commemorate the coronation of their majesties 6th June 1902, burgh of galashiels, town arms, henry riddle provost, purple ribbon & ornate brass clasp with wording ' long live the king. e. r.' and crown centered, WM, 39mm, scarce with this suspension
