Hamish: I am sure you have guessed correctly as to Catherine's parents! Ihave a Dundas family history published in 1907 in Edinburgh which has alarge family tree in the back. It indicates unequivocally thatCatherine's mother was Marion Boyd, not Sir James Dundas' first wife,Janet Hepburn. Incidentally, this Sir James Dundas is usually referred toin the family as "1st Lord Arniston." This is not a hereditary title, butcomes by virtue of his position in the legal hierarchy of Scotland.
He was knighted by Charles I; signed the National Covenant, 1629; servedas MP for Midlothian, 1648. Appointed a judge in the Court of Sessionafter the Restoration (1662-65), but stepped down when required by theRoyalist government to renounce the Covenant.
