"Anthony Edward Barnewell, the 20th Baron Trimlestown Lord Trimlestown(Old Amplefordian) died at the age of 69 on 19th August 1997. A veteranof the Irish Guards, by the time he succeeded to the title in 1990 helived in Michigan, being married to a daughter of the late Judge ThomasFrancis McAllister of the United States Court of Appeals for the SixthCircuit. His brother, Raymond Barnewell, who lives in England, nowsucceeds to this title, but he is apparently the very last of the line.The title, which is in the peerage of Ireland and thus carries no seat inthe Lords, dates to 1461, making it the oldest title to have no heir inprospect at the present time and appears headed for extinction! "
