- John Montgomerie, eldest surviving son, was collector of taxes for the county of Ayr.
He was four times married : first, to Mrs. Colonel Maxwell, by whom he had no issue ;secondly, to Miss Crosbie, from Dumfries, and had issue.
Mr. Montgomerie married, thirdly, Jacobina, daughter of John Smith of Greenock, by Margaret, third daughter of James Dalrymple, Sheriff-Clerk of Ayrshire, and had issue
He married, fourthly, Marion, daughter of the Rev. Mr.
Campbell, minister of Barr, but had no issue by her. He
died in 1811.
