- When James Stuart Douglas was born on 19 June 1868, in Inverness, Mégantic, Quebec, Canada, his father, James Stuart Douglas Jr., was 30 and his mother, Naomi Douglas, was 29. He married Josephine Leah Williams on 3 December 1891, in Cochise, Arizona, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons. He lived in Douglas, Cochise, Arizona, United States for about 20 years and Quebec, Canada in 1949. He died on 2 January 1949, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the age of 80, and was buried in Sillery, Sainte-Foy--Sillery--Cap-Rouge, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Followed in his father's footsteps, and built a major fortune with the United Verde Extension mine in Jerome, Arizona. His Jerome mansion is open to the public as the Jerome State Historic Park .
