- His father James acknowledged CT as his son. CT departed London July 1830 on ship "Mary" (Captain Beachcroft) arrived Hobart 31 Dec 1830. There he established the wool broking firm "Websters" and employed Tabart, Douglass and Webster relations. Alfred Douglass departed England in 1834, aged 14 and travelled by himself on the barque "Wave" (Capt. Goldsmith) departed London 9 Nov 1834 and arrived in Hobart 9 March 1835. Alfred resided with half-brother CT Smith and family in Hobart working in CT Smith's wool broking for AUPounds 40/year for about 8 years.
