  Had leases on coalmines in Bebside and Cowpen. Had some involvement in salt works at Blyth. In 1712, he was involved in a law suit relating to the Newcastle water supply, together with his father John. His brother in law, Mattew White is described as 'of Bebside'. On 11 Dec 1738, a fire destroyed several houses and businesses in Newcastle, properties which Robert owned, reducing him 'to beggary'. He died without issue.
