Marzee Douglass was born November 6, 1919 at Cheek, Oklahoma, to Ludie and Mimie Douglass. Marzee was one of five children born of this union.
Marzee united with Sweet Kingdom Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Ardmore Douglass High School in 1937, received a Bachelors Degree in Science from Tennessee State University, Nashville, Tennessee and his Masters Degree at Southeastern State University, Durant, Oklahoma in 1961. Marzee taught at Central High School, Milo, Oklahoma, retiring after many years of service from Ardmore High School. He served in the Army of the United states in World War II from March 6, 1943 to January 7, 1946. He was stationed in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.
Marzee was a member of the Pardon and Parole Board where he served for eight years. Marzee served his community and state organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, American Legion Post #264, H.F.V. Wilson Community Board, the National Ardmore Douglass Alumni Association and the Democratic Party.
Mr. Douglass was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers. He is survived by one brother, Rev. Ludie B. Douglass, El Reno, Oklahoma, one sister, Lacie Douglass of the home, devoted friend Dr. Betty Gaffney, Idabell, Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
