Notes:

In the 1850 Federal Census it's obvious that Mary is related to thefamily with Catharine Day (72 years old) living with her and nohusband of her own in the household. They are all listed as born inNorth Carolina. She is living next to Andrew and Ambrose Day,probably her brothers and their families. Mary and her first fourchildren were also born in North Carolina. Her husband must havedied from the time of her youngest child's birth 1846 to the 1850census then. Mary's oldest son John was working by the time of thecensus on the Stephen Philpot farm next door to the family and islisted as a farmer.
Noting the ages of Mary's children from the 1850 Federal Census andwhere they were born, the families migration must have taken placearound 1843-1846 to Indiana from North Carolina.

Mary married Elder Davis about 1833 in North Carolina, USA. Elder died between 1846 and 1850 in Fountain County, Indiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Andrew Davis was born in 1839 in North Carolina, USA; and died.
3. Elizabeth Davis was born in 1841 in North Carolina, USA; and died.
4. Isaac Davis was born in 1843 in North Carolina, USA; and died.
5. Jane Davis was born in 1846 in Indiana, USA; and died.

Elder married Catharine about 1800 in North Carolina, USA. was born in 1778 in North Carolina, USA; died between 1850 and 1860 in Fountain County, Indiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Catharine is living with her daughter Mary Day Davis in the 31st July1850 Federal Census in Jackson Township, Fountain County, Indianawithout her husband. From the ages of Mary's children, the familymust have arrived in Fountain County, Indiana between the years of1843-1846 when Mary's last child was bornin Indiana.
