Marie Case thought August's family had something to do with inventing Venetian Blinds (or a type of them). August was disinherited because of marrying outside his religion (thought to be Catholic).
Gus was raised in the Bronx and worked for Gibson for awhile at the store. Gibson was crippled by burns in a linament fire which boiled over. He had locomotor taxia. He walked with a cane. He then became Superintendant of Inco in New York.
