    B. While reflecting on the meaning of last week's
    Veteran's Day holiday, I started wondering how
    many men from the Yuba-Sutter area fought for
    their country and died in Vietnam and Southeast
    Asia. With all of the news stories on Vietnam memo-
    rials, I think it would be appropriate to remember
    those from our own backyard who gave their lives in
    the conflict. How many from this area were killed
    and is it possible to print their names?
    A. Twenty-seven men from Yu ba and Sutter Coun-
    ties are listed by the state Department of Veterans
    Affairs as being casualties of war in Southeast Asia
    as of 1982.
    Yu ba City residents on the list are Army Pfc Ed-
    ward D. Abbott, Marine Cpl. Donald R. Christy,
    Army SSgt Frank J. DeMarco, Army Sp4 Ronnie J.
    Eskew, Army Sp4 John P. Eynon, Army Sp4 Merl W.
    Ferguson, Army Sp5 Manuel G. Gomez, Army Cpl
    Leslie L. McCorkle and Army Sp4 Stephen L. Ray-
    burn.
    Marysville residents on the list are Army Cpl John
    T. Baker, Army 2Lt David J. Bolton, Army+Pfc
    George T. Connolly, Army Sp4 Thomas W. Cummins;
    Navy Cdr Verne G. Donnelly, Army+ Sgt Edward L.
    Greene, Army S Maj Grifith A. Jones, Army Sp4
    Mario M. Laguna, Army Sfc Michael Millner, Army
    Pfc David E. Nance, Marine Pfc Steven O. Schneller,
    Army Pfc Renny D. Schoel, Air Force 1Lt Michael S.
    Vrrablick. All died in South Vietnam, except Don-
    nelly, who died in North Vietnam, and Vrablick, who
    died in Cambodia.
    Others on the list are Army Sp4 Glenn E. Case and
    Army Pfc Darrell E. Wheeler, both,of Live Oak;
    Army Sgt William R. Goudeloclt: of Meridian; Army
    Sgt Lee R. Bays of Olivehurst; and Army Pfc
    Thomas G. Brubaker of Sutter. All died in South Viet-
    Nam.
    There also were four war South Vietnam casual-
    ties from Colusa. They were ArmySSL~t Krag C. Bul-
    lis, Army Sgt Monroe W. Cross, Army Sgt Robert J.
    Lorenzo, and Army Pfc Michael A. Pogue.
    Three Gridley servicemen also died in South Viet-
    nam. They were Army Pfc Larry H. Peterson, Ma-
    rine LCpl Daniel L. Frock, and Army Cpl Dennis A.
    Smith.
    The local servicemen died between 1966 and 1972.
