3. | Beatrix Maclachlan (daughter of Lachlan (Lt Colonel) Maclachlan of Maclachlan); died after 1775. Notes:
E Mail received from Joel Fontaine (Belgium!)
"About Hugh's wife, on http://www.gillean.com he married only BeatrixMacLachlan, on the opposite for the traditionnal Clan Gillean referencebooks ( J. P. Maclean, A History of the Clan MacLean, 1889; and A.Maclean Sinclair,The Clan Gillean, 1899.), Mary Stewart was the mother ofhis children. A correspondant who had had the opportunity to read some ofthe Lochbuy Papers, told me that Hugh's wife wrote some of the letters totheir son Murdoch and signs them "Betty McLean" (Beatrix McLachlan). Itseems that there is nothing of the name Mary Stewart in MS sources."
