14. | John Hunter was born on 16 Aug 1700 in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland; was christened in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland (son of John Hunter and Katherine Snadon); died in 1770 in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Notes:
[Ross family tree 1.FTW]
There are a confusing number of Hunters in the Alloa are at this time and the LDS site has several cross-references between different families with two or three children with the same first name sometimes appearing. I have, through elimination and deduction, made the best attempt I can to be accurate though I do not claim to be 100% correct.
For example. there is a record of three John Hunters being born to the same parents. Also, this John Hunter is recorded as having two mothers - a Margaret Love as well as Katherine Snadon. However the dates for Margaret Love don't equate - she is supposed to have married his father when the latter was a month old!
There are also various spellings of both Katherine & Snadon, leading to the same record appearingin multiple guises.
The practice of Hunters, Patersons, Snadons and Mitchells inter-marrying doesn't help either.
John + Christian Hunter. Christian was born in 1700 in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
