Ian Douglas has been fascinated by Scottish history for over forty years. He was educated at Kilmarnock Academy.

He is the author of "Exploring History in the Scottish Borders" and "A Novice Trekker in Nepal", both available from Amazon. He also wrote: “Exploring Mary’s Scotland”.

A keen photographer, his main photographic areas are heritage and travel. Much of my heritage photography focuses on Scotland where I originate from, and on Hampshire where he now lives.

His contributions to the Douglas Archives include:

•  Scottish Borders tower houses, a description of the design and purpose of the fortified residences used for living in and for defence.
