The House of Douglas is considered by some to be a clan, and by others a family. Whichever, over time we have split into various branches, Red, Black - and neither!
As one of the oldest Border families, although with possible Lanarkshire origins, the Douglases spread north to Orkney, settled in Sutherland and had occupancy in the north east of Scotland, in Angus and the Lothians. This wordsquare lists just some of those familes.
