- Manufacturer in Manchester, of the family of Knocknalling in Galloway,
1849 The O.S. map shows Caledon Mill with some minor building extensions. Caledon House remained, but its gardens had gone, the land being partly taken up with terraced houses, streets, and a coal wharf. One of the roads, Brown Street, was characterised by having third of its width occupied by the SE corner of Caledon House.

Ancoats who died September llth 1893 aged 78 yrs. Her body rests here. JAMES KENNEDY of
Caledon House, Ancoats died April 14th 1829 aged 55 yrs. His body rests in St. Andrews Church,

At some undefined point, Edward tootal migrated across the Pennines, because he got married at Manchester Cathedral Church on 22 May 1828, by Licence, to Margaret Kennedy (presumably the above Margaret Tootal). His eldest brother Thomas was a witness, as were two Kennedys..
