  He was a board member of the original Lake Geneva History Buffs, a former member of the Lake Geneva Park Board, a former member of the Lake Geneva YMCA, and he was recognized on the Lake Geneva/Badger High School Wall of Success. He received the Stu Herzog Outstanding Citizen Award in 1989. He was an avid NASCAR fan, he also was a model train and model car enthusiast.
