- Doug Hickling points out:
"According to several sources, Angus Og's mother was a daughter of Colin(Sir) Mor (of Lochow) Campbell. Alistair Campbell of Airds says in his AHISTORY OF CLAN CAMPBELL, VOLUME 1, at 51, that "according to atraditional history of the MacDonalds, Colin (Sir)'s daughter was marriedto Angus of the Isles and was therefore mother to Angus Og."
Ronald Williams in his 1984 book THE LORDS OF THE ISLES, at 149, saysthat "Angus Mor was married to a daughter of Colin (Sir) Cambel of Lochowby whom he had three sons: Alasdar Og, Angus Og, and John Sprangach (BoldJohn)."
So also, Nicholas MacLean-Bristol in his 1995 book WARRIORS AND PRIESTS,at 168, says that Angus Og was a "legitimate son" of the daughter ofColin (Sir) Campbell of Lochawe.
Donald J. MacDonald of Castleton, in his highly regarded 1978 book CLANDONALD, at 54, says that "Angus Mor married a daughter of Colin (Sir)Campbell, by whom he had (1) Alexander, his heir; (2) Angus Og, whosucceeded Alexander . . . etc."
Finally, THE SCOTS PEERAGE volume 5, at 34-35, identifies the wife ofAngus Mor and the mother of Angus Og as "a daughter of Colin (Sir)Campbell." The weight of authority clearly supports this addition toyour GEDCOM."
