- 1800 Private George Douglas, 35th Battalion, of Marrickville, NSW. George Douglass was an alias for Kenneth George Douglas who was aged 18 when he enlisted, on 12 April 1916. He enlisted without permission, claiming to be over 21. He embarked from Sydney, NSW, on 4 September 1916 aboard HMAT Port Sydney (A15) and served with the 35th Battalion until late April 1917 when he transferred to the 17th Battalion. He was killed in action in Belgium on 20 September 1917, aged 19. Private Douglas' two elder brothers, 848 Lance Corporal Allan Edward Douglas and 2789 Lance Sergeant Gordon Leslie Douglas, were also killed in the First World War.
