Death of Mrs. George Douglas.
Deep sorrow came into one of the happiest homes in this communityyesterday morning, when death claimed Mrs. George Douglas, at the home ofher husband, lot 18, con. 1, Esquesing, after a very brief illness. Somefive weeks ago Mrs. Douglas suffered for a few days with an attack ofappendicitis. She recovered and regained her usual health, and was ablethree weeks ago to attend service in Knox Church. A week or so ago, however, she again became ill from affection of the heart and liver, andyesterday morning between seven and eight o'clock her spirit peacefullytook its flight. Mrs. Douglas was the eldest daughter of George Manson, farmer, Brims, Parish of Thurso, Scotland, where she was born nearlysixty-four years ago. She married George Douglas on the 6th December,1862. They came to Canada in April, 1871, and two years later settled onthe farm where the family still resides. Six children were born to them, four in Scotland and two after coming to Canada. These are Donald,William, James, Alexandrina, Jessie and Betsy, all of whom survive. Mrs.Douglas was a good woman. Her home was her greatest thought, but for allthe blessings which came she reverently gave thanks to the Giver of allGood. Her family never wanted a mother's loving care. Her neighborscounted her a friend of the most practical kind. General sympathy is feltfor Mr. Douglas and his bereaved family.
