NOTE: CRAWFORDSVILLE STAR - OCTOBER 27, 1881 "MURDER, YET NOTMURDER"
"The peculiar death of Isreal Clore, at Jacksonville, (Wallace, Ind.)WHISKEY THE MURDERER.
Rumor was rife on the streets, Tuesday that a dastardly murder hadbeen committed in Jacksonville, Fountain Co., Jacksonville orJackville, as it is better known, does not have a very enviable namehence the public were not slow to give credence to a report thatIsreal Clore, a hard drinking citizen of that Village, had beenmurdered by W.H. Spinning, a druggist at that point. The facts in thecase are these, as related by Mr. Spinning himself while in the cityon Monday. On Sunday afternoon Clore, came into his drug store whileno one was there but Spinnings son, a young lad, and became abusivebecause he could not get no whiskey. He left after some words withthe boy and returned again when Mr. Spinning was there himself, andwas finally ejected from the house. On Monday morning he was foundcold in death in front of a house hard by. There were no marks orbruises on his body to donate death by violence, and the opinion of amedical gentleman and the coroner of Fountain County was that he cameto his death from whiskey and exposure, having fallen in such aposition that his blood refused to circulate. The murderer waswhiskey, and as usual he did his work exceedingly neatly and well."
NOTE: CRAWFORDSVILLE, WEEKLY REVIEW - OCTOBER 29, 1881
"Drs. Steel and Van Nuys were to Jacksonville, Tuesday, to hold a postmortem examination on the body of Isreal Clore, who died suddenly.Isreal Clore, who was found dead on the streets of Jacksonville, cameto his death from Congestion caused by excessive use of strong drink."

    Notes:

NOTE: I have been going over the notes of Joyce L. Clore Elkins andthose of Cathi Clore Frost and comparing them for some sort ofcollaberation on where the family was located. It would appear thatthe farm land bordered both Parke and Montgomery Counties andoverlapped into both. So, it has been very difficult to determineexactly which county is the birth and death counties of individuals inmany cases. Also, in many cases, where one of them is married in acounty it's not necessarily where they lived in a county and viceversa. There may be some errors in locations of births and deaths. If you should decide a mistake was made, please feel free to contactme: sljuhl1234@yahoo.com or at
