Gerald, thanks for the offer on the "oldest men in Canton". I do have a copy of that photo along with the news article about it. It's always nice to know our line is long-lived (actually my husband's). When you get a chance, let me know about yourself and whether you are still in Connecticut or have migrated. Frederick, my husband's great-grandfather, had a wandering bug and was apparently involved in re-introducing deer back into Connecticut. He shipped cattle from Texas and at least once brought back deer. Later he taught school in Kansas and ended up in Pasadena, Calif. as a carpenter. We have his toolbox with the woodworking tools with us. He was in California during the San Francisco earthquake. He returned to Connecticut after his wife, Caroline Holcomb, developed tuberculosis. She later
died at a tuberculosis home in Connecticut. After her death, he married another Connecticut woman and brought her and his six-year-old son back to California for good. His son attended college in Oregon and then Yale for a masters in forestry before returning to California to work in the Forest Service. That son, Paul, died in 1995. Incidentally, we have a family bible owned by William Case of the Civil War Era. It allegedly is the bible he carried with him during the war. If you know any of his direct line, let them know.
