(The author of 'The Frasers of Pilorth' is of the opinion that anotherdaughter of this Reginald (Sir) le Chen, le fils, by Mary de Moravia, waswife of Andrew (Sir) Fraser of Pilorth, Sheriff of Sterling, and he baseshis opinion on the agreement of 1312, above mentioned, between Mary deMoravia, Duffus, and Alexander, son of this Andrew (Sir) Fraser. Andrew(Sir) Fraser's wife had dower lands in Caithness between 1280 and 1290,(viii) and the author's argument is as follows: (ix) "It is this Mary, ofDuffus, who in her widowhood made the agreement (Robert I. 1312) withAlexander Fraser by order of Robert I. She was the wife of Reginald (Sir)le Chen before 1269 and a daughter of theirs might have been of age tobecome the wife of Andrew (Sir) Fraser between 1280 and 1290 and mighthave received dower lands in Catania (out of her mother's lands ofStrathnavir in Caithness) and if during the disturbances of that stormyperiod the part of Mary's estates where these dower lands were situatedhad been lost or alienated by her, Alexander Fraser might have justclaims on her other possessions in lieu of this inheritance, to which hehad right through his mother but which is no longer in Mary's power togrant him: and as far as can be ascertained there is no reason to befound for any such pretensions on the part of Andrew (Sir)'s son. Thisview of the case may suggest a cause for the confirmation of the royalletters by David II in 1363, for the possessions of the last Reginald(Sir) le Chen, Lord of Duffus, were divided amongst his daughters, whowere married about that time, when it is possible that some revival ofthe claims may have been tried by Alexander Fraser's heiress Margaret andher husband, William (Sir) de Keith, the Marischal. Probably thereforeAndrew (Sir) Fraser's wife, who had diwer lands in Catania, was a of thefamily Le Chen".)
